As You Go Activities – Week 1 – 1 Spy

simple learning gamesEach week, I will highlight a simple “as you go along” activity that promotes learning of some sort.

By no means am I an expert, but we do like to have fun and learn whilst we are at it.

This week….. our “Learn as You Go Activity” is:

I SPY!!!

“I spy with my little eye, something that is….. <colour>”

A great way for us to practice our colours (especially more difficult ones like cream and beige and grey, as we discovered today), as well as observation skills. Also a great way to get my children to look closely at things and details, as well as step away and look at the bigger picture.

We played whilst sitting on the sofa at quiet time (ah, what a lovely rest!) and on on the nursery run (no arguing or fighting.. but total distraction andĀ absorption).

  1. We play this all the time with colours too! It’s a great little game to play with toddlers or preschoolers.

Isn’t it just? I think sometimes we forget about it.. and it is a shame.. as it really is simple and my son particularly enjoys it!

We play the same game…and with shapes too: I spy with my little eye a rectangle…We find it great if you are sitting waiting for food in a restaurant!!
