The ASK ITALIAN Cookbook
|Firstly off, before I say anything, this cook book supports the Great Ormond Street Charity, so in my eyes, you can “already” not go wrong with this one. That aside… what do I think of this cook book?
The ASK ITALIAN Cookbook is written by the team and chefs from the UK ASK Italian restaurant chains. So it is written by a mix of people who really do know their Italian food.
We do eat a lot of pasta at home. But I confess we mainly eat, bolognese, lasagne or “made up tomato & veg sauces”. At the same time we keep talking about varying our meals, using different foods and trying new things. So this book is a nice addition to our cook book range (especially, as we don’t really have one classic Italian cook book). I am very keen to try out the Aubergine Rolls (Involtini Di Melanzane), the Frittata of left over Pasta (I have vague Spanish childhood memories of this), the Pasta and Chick Pea soup (I so want my kids to eat more pulses) and the Spinach and Mushroom Lasagne.
I seemed to have picked out all the Vegetarian dishes to try. But fear no, plenty of meat based dishes too. Some GREAT looking Pizza topping ideas (+ of course how to make a good pizza base) and delicious looking salads. I can imagine that we will find something for all seasons in here!
