New Years? A good time to go on a family break?
|So.. we are in the middle of our “Autumn Rush”. I find this time of year VERY busy indeed.. we are settling back into a new school year and the new routines that come with it (invariably, we forget gym kits and homework books as we try and bring these in on the “wrong day”), we love doing lots of Autumn Crafts, we have a few family birthdays to celebrate and I am also starting planning our Christmas (cards, presents etc etc). So there is lots of “doing and planning” at this time of year for us.
We are also looking into a new year break with the family and what we want to do holiday wise next year. We have a habit of squeezing all our holidays into the Summer. Which is lovely and fun, but it is an awfully long time to wait to get a proper break! Much better to split it up and go twice a year.
So, it is definitely worth considering. But there is less time available for us in the New Year (the kids are now at school and we are tied to school holidays). So a short break within the UK may be the answer. I love exploring our home country with the kids. It is all to easy to jet set off these days and forget what we have on our doorstep. Plenty to see and do and I want the children to have a feel for what the UK has to offer and actually know where places are.
And the main objective is to have some time off together. Away from our gadgets and toys and computer screens.
So now is the time to start planning that holiday and think about what we want to do and where we want to go, in order to get the best deal and the timings that work for us. I love going to the coast and it is a great opportunity to collect bits and pieces with the kids and then come home and craft with them.
Now we just need to decide where to go! Hooray for holidays.
