Summer Days Out: Blenheim Palace

If you are like me, you are HURTLING towards the end of the school term (literally we have one day to go) and though our family Summer holiday is booked and the kids have one week of “camp”, there are plenty of “remaining days” for us to do something. Of course we will be heading into London at some point (there are plenty of (almost) free ways to enjoy London!!), but as Hubby is home for the Summer we thought going a bit further afield would be fun too!
Lucky for us the people at Blenheim Palace invited us over for a visit.

Blenheim Palace is a stately home situated in Woodstock, Oxfordshire (so easily accesible for us Londoners) and of course open to the public. It boasts 10 formal gardens,  It recently hosted the meeting between Donald Trump and Theresa May!

Even luckier for us, they sent us 101 things to do at Blenheim through the year……. here is the summer section:

10 things to do at Blenheim Palace in the Summer

  1. Picnic at Blenheim Palace during the summer with our top picnic spots for couples and families.
  2. Outdoor entertainment takes place at Blenheim Palace throughout the summer months; from Nocturne Live Music concerts in the Great Court to family theatre productions on the South Lawn.
  3. Summer Jousting is a must-visit family day out. Enjoy battling knights on horseback and historical entertainment including Falconry, archery and puppet shows appealing to all ages.
  4. August Bank Holiday at Blenheim Palace is the Festival of Transport showcasing a fantastic range of classic cars and contemporary models. Perfect for petrol heads!
  5. The annual Family Cycling Day offers visitors a once-a-year opportunity to explore the 2,000 acre ‘Capability’ Brown Parkland on two wheels.

  10. Discover the very best of American motors at the Auto Rally, the perfect start to the summer.

Needless to say, you can time your visit to conincide with a specific event (there really is lots on!!! Just check the What’s On section) or come along and simple enjoy the Palace for what it is! Plenty to see and do on any day of the year.

We are already planning what to bring on our picnic and can’t wait for our day trip out of London!
