Brown Bananas Recipes: Very Berry Smoothie

We seemed to have “somehow” ended up with a big bunch of BROWN BANANAS. And I don’t know about you, but my kids won’t eat them. Sigh. So, what to use your brown bananas for? Well first you can make some Banana Breakfast muffins (tick), they are great for the kids’ lunchbox as well (double tick). Another good, healthy and filling use, is to make breakfast Banana smoothies!

We always have some frozen blueberrys and raspberries in the freezer (they are cheaper frozen and it means you always have some to hand.. we add them to our porridge too).

So our smoothie has:

  • One Banana per person
  • Handful of blueberries
  • Handful of raspberries
  • A splash of milk

Brown Banana Recipe IdeasAdd a handful of frozen berries. And blend. I use one banana per child. And if the smoothie is too thick, add a little bit of milk. My son doesn’t like milk, but he is fine with it in a smoothie. If your child is lactose intolerant, add some apple or orange juice. Both add a nice flavour.

If your child doesn’t like “the bits” from the raspberries, only add the blue berries.

In fact.. why don’t you just experiment and come up with a mix that YOU like!
